The Legal Counsel (f/m/d) is responsible for providing legal advice, guidance, direction and assistance in connection with a wide variety of legal and compliance matters mainly in Germany, but also in Austria, Switzerland and Poland. This role will provide support for the Danaher Diagnostics Platform ("Dx Platform") made up of the following companies: Beckman Coulter, Cepheid, Radiometer and Leica Biosystems. The role will also support Beckman Coulter Life Sciences.

This position reports to the Legal Director, Europe and is part of the Danaher Diagsnostics EU Legal Team. The role will be remote , but we expect that the candidate will come to the office (Krefeld) once in a month.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide legal advice on contractual law, medical device regulation, public tenders, privacy and cybersecurity matters.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, update of standard agreements.
  • Conduct legal training and education as deemed necessary or appropriate for the business.
  • Assist Quality and Regulatory Affairs with regulatory law support.
  • Advise on privacy and cyber security matters.
  • Work with digital contracts, AI, cloud solutions, ERP systems etc.
  • Support the legal work going forward in new areas such as sustainability, digital and software contracting, new technologies, AI.
  • Support the Compliance Program, including:
  • Implement planned activities such as policy and procedure management, lead training, conduct monitoring, and direct investigations;
  • Promote (a) use of the Compliance Hotline, (b) awareness of the Code of Conduct, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures;
  • Monitor and report results of compliance/ethics efforts and provide guidance to associates on compliance matters.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Diploma in Law / German qualified OR If not German qualified, then comprehensive training in German law.
  • Fluency in German (preferable native speaker level) and English.
  • 6 or more years of practice, preferably from an international law firm, or equivalent in-house experience, or a combination of both, in the Life Sciences, Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of compliance programs, including data protection laws, health related regulations and clinical trials.
  • Project management skills, including managing and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects and regular and transparent reporting on progress.
  • Ability to travel internationally, as needed.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Working in a multinational company headquartered outside the EU, supporting geographically dispersed teams.
  • Working in a multicultural society to understand Danaher's D&I; principles.
  • Experience in interacting with remote internal customers and management.
  • Working in a dynamic and fast-paced business environment.
